A crib that is placed near your bed will allow you to keep your baby close at night, without the need to get out of bed. The fabric is breathable, which allows you to easily see baby and they're super easy to lower for those sleepy 3am feedings.
Some double as a moses basket as well.
What is a bedside crib?
A bedside crib, also referred as a bassinet or a co-sleeper is a crib for babies that is attached to your adult bed. This allows your newborn to sleep with you in safety. This is a safe form of co-sleeping, which does not increase the risk of SIDS like bedsharing. It can also help you bond with the new baby.

The cots come with one side that can be lowered so that you can reach your baby easily at night to comfort and feed them. This is especially useful for mothers recovering from the c-section. Many of them are portable or foldable so you can use them to travel or as an interim solution for infants that aren't yet ready to be able to transition to a larger crib.
Look for a crib with a breathable mattress, and an extra-safe cover that will protect your baby from stains. You should also pick up some baby-safe add-ons such as a blanket and a cuddly toy.
If you're looking for a long-term alternative, some cribs are equipped with conversion kits that let you transform them into a cot or a toddler bed when the time comes. This is great for extending their lifespan and making the transition more seamless. Some even have a detachable top section that can be converted into an infant bed, and some can be used on either a regular or a high-rise adult bed. This is a great option for families who plan to travel frequently or switch between bedrooms in the evening. It is also important to consider how big your bedroom is to ensure that you can squeeze the crib comfortably. Many cribs have risers that can be used to create an incline for babies with reflux.
The Joie Roomie Glide
The Roomie Glide, a bedside crib from the English brand Joie is a fantastic addition to their range of high-quality products for infants. This co-sleeper was designed to enable parents to bond and sleep side by side with their babies, without sharing the same bed. It's packed with features that help make bonding between parent and baby safe, simple, and fun.
One of the most important features is a soft rocking motion that can be activated with the touch of a button. This can soothe baby into sleep by a gentle rhythm that doesn't disturb their natural sleep pattern. This is perfect for toddlers or older babies who have difficulty settling down. It can also help with digestive issues such as colic and reflux.
The crib can also be affixed to the side of the bed using an attachment strap and clip. This makes it extremely stable and secure, allowing you to enjoy a peaceful night's rest without having to worry about your little one sliding off into the middle of the room. The cocoon's rounded shape has soft padding on the sides as well as double mesh windows on both ends. This allows for airflow while ensuring your baby's safety.
The mattress comes with a soft and comfortable, and has a removable cover. The lightweight aluminium frame makes the crib very lightweight and easy to set up. The four rubber-covered wheels lockable ensure that the crib does not leave marks on your floors and are easy to move. It is easy to clean using fabric wipes and is easy to put in a bag for travel, making it ideal for long-term absences from home.

Anna discovered the CoZee to be a safe and comfortable sleeping space for her infant. She loved that it didn't sway like other models, meaning it didn't wake her at night while she was trying to soothe her baby during feedings. She also loved the fact that the side could be lowered so she didn't have to reach over her partner to lift the baby for night time feeds.
The CoZee is available in oak and charcoal and is a chic addition to the bedroom. It's more of an expensive piece of furniture than many of the other cribs we've tested, which can appear quite utilitarian. It's also quite light at just 11kg, and comes with a carry case which allows you to take it with you on holiday or when you move your home. The only extras you need to buy are a waterproof cover and a co-sleeping safety strap. There are bedside crib that turns into cot -by-step directions and illustrations to guide you through the process as you open the box and making it a one-person task should you need to.
The Maxi-Cosi lora
The Iora is a bedside bassinet that helps parents feel closer to their child while they sleep. It adjusts up and down and moves through three slide positions to fit next to the bed of the parent or in the corner of the room so that baby is always close to the parent's side. The mesh siding allows air to flow through, and allows you to quickly see your baby. You can also store more pajamas and other supplies in the large storage basket under.
The Iora is a bedside crib that is smaller and folds flat. It also comes with a travel case which allows it to be taken anywhere. It was easy to move from room to space, and our mom testers thought it was the right size for a bedside crib. The large storage basket is ideal for storing extra bedding or nappies.
This is an excellent choice for parents who want to co-sleep but do not want to share their beds or whose partners may have mobility issues, like arthritis or back pain. Our mum testers loved the ease with which they could access their child in the Iora and that it included an adjustable reflux incline that helped to reduce gas.
Our mothers are thrilled that the mattress adheres to NICE guidelines. These include placing the baby in the Moses basket or crib on its own, without toys, blankets and pillows. The mattress is also sturdy and comfortable for babies and sheets are easy to find. It's not as light as the other smaller bedside cribs, though, so if you want something lighter and easier to move around, consider one of the other options on our list.
